In the early 1990’s, Gail Silverstein’s father had a stroke back in his hometown of Cincinnati. After hospitalization and further recovery in a nursing home, Gail’s father was able to fulfill his wish of returning to his own apartment. From her home in Phoenix, Arizona, she did her best to make sure her father was safe and his daily needs were met.
Gail tried to find someone who could check in on her father two or three times a week, going with him to the grocery, helping with laundry and housekeeping, and making sure he was getting a hot meal. She did not know where to turn, and ultimately moved him to Phoenix despite his wishes to stay in the city where he had spent his whole life.
“If I had only known about services such as Care Corner, my father could have stayed in his home a lot longer and I would have known that he was safe,” says Gail, the owner of Care Corner. Gail’s inability to find someone to look in on her father at home led to her passion for home care and to educating families about the many options available to their loved ones.

The Care Managers are very familiar with community resources available in the Phoenix metro area related to aging, disability and services for individuals with acute or chronic illness. They can assist our clients and their families in finding the best resources – whether medical, financial or support services – to achieve and maintain the highest quality of life.
Dr. Gail Silverstein is the owner of Care Corner Personal Services and one of the founders and owners of Assisting Hands Home Care®. She provides a wealth of knowledge with more than 25 years of experience in the health care industry. Gail’s knowledge and experience comes from her well-established home care agency, her personal experience caring for the elderly, which began with her aging father, and her professional experience in the health care industry, including senior management positions with various health plans such as Medicare and Medicaid long-term care plans. She is a published author in health care policy and management and has taught in the state university systems in both Florida and Arizona.
